Welcome!

I’m a historian specializing in the history of Modern France and the history of sexuality.  I recently completed my dissertation, “Urban Desires: Practicing Pleasure in the ‘City of Light,’ 1848-1900,” at the University of Michigan and I am now a Visiting Assistant Professor of History at Kenyon College in Gambier, OH.

As a onetime blogger and someone with an abiding interest in the digital humanities, I wanted to start a web presence again from the beginning.  This website will present aspects of my current research, teaching resources, and a revamped blog on topics of interest to myself as an academic at the beginning of his career, a avid reader of science fiction and fantasy, a gamer, and a political junky.

You can navigate to sections of the site by following the links above.  “About Me” includes a short biography and my current CV.  Under “teaching” you will find current and past syllabi, resources for my classes, and other links of possible interest to college-level instruction in the humanities and social sciences.  The “research” section includes descriptions of my current work, links to published articles, as well as any digital projects that I am developing.  “Weblog” includes the new edition of “air pollution,” the blog I wrote from about 2005 – 2010 (an archive of the previous version can be found at this link, access to which is available upon request for the time being).  Finally, “links” is self explanatory and includes links to both web resources of interest.

Feedback is always appreciated and I can be reached at aiross00 at gmail dot com.

Enjoy!

Sincerely,

Andrew Ross
